UW-Madison alumnus Marc Kornblatt recently produced a music video for the song “I See You,” which was written in support of the National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMI).
Kornblatt received his undergraduate degree in elementary education from UW-Madison’s School of Education in 2001. Kornblatt retired from the classroom following the 2014-15 academic year after a 16-year second career as a teacher. He now devotes his time to filmmaking.
The song was written by the father of one of Kornblatt’s former students, Jason Horowitz. Horowitz, a child psychologist, wrote the song in support of NAMI.
At the time, the Youtube video of the song was just accompanied by a static picture. Kornblatt, who recently produced a full-length documentary about the homeless of Madison, reached out to Horowitz to help produce a music video that highlighted the issues of mental illness and homelessness.
The final video features a Madison-based American rock band called The Whiskey Farm, which Kornblatt discovered through one of his students when he returned to Lincoln High School to teach music part-time in 2018.
