Alum Corso authors, ‘Schools and Society: In Defense of Public Education’

UW-Madison alumnus Emanuele Corso recently published a book titled, “Schools and Society: In Defense of Public Education.”

Schools and Society book coverCorso earned a master’s degree from the School of Education’s Art Department in 1967, and a Ph.D. from the School’s Department of Educational Policy Studies in 1972.

His book addresses the increasing attack faced by public schools and public school teachers in the past two decades, as business interests have “set their sights on public education as a market to be exploited.”

Using his home state as a case study to understand corporate efforts to undermine and privatize a public institution, Corso passionately defends public education as a “vital” achievement that must be protected.
