‘Evil Dead: The Musical’ runs through Aug. 25; returns Sept. 12-29

This summer, the School of Education’s’ Department of Theatre and Drama is putting on a production of “Evil Dead: The Musical,” which runs through Aug. 25.

The musical binds elements from the cult classic films “The Evil Dead,” “Evil Dead 2,” and “Army of Darkness” into a chaotic, comedic, and musical adventure.

UW-Madison senior Cobi Tappa, who plays lead character Ashly Williams, says “it’s the perfect musical for someone who needs to laugh and get away from it all. It’s a great balance of horror, camp, and hilarity that makes it a must see for college students and the greater-Madison community alike.”

The musical follows five college students as they explore an abandoned cabin and accidentally unleash an evil force set to destroy all of mankind. A housewares employee turned demon killer, it’s up to Ashly and his chainsaw to save the day.

Following the summer production, “Evil Dead” returns to the stage for a second run, Sept. 12-29.
