The UW–Madison School of Education is affiliated with student organizations in the arts, health, and education. Below, you’ll find a sample of student organizations available through the School of Education and UW–Madison.
Arts
InterMission Theatre
InterMission Theatre produces theatrical performances at a professional level to service an underutilized talent base at UW and promote Madison’s theatre community by offering shows to the public and planning group outings to see local shows.
Art History Society
Art History Society is a casual club to get together and discuss art for fun. The group takes field trips, attends events, and discusses pop culture. No need to be an art history student to join; all you have to bring is a love of art.
Art History Grad Forum
Our goal is to serve the UW–Madison art history community through collaboration with other departments and institutions, the sponsorship of events including lectures, workshops, receptions, and professional opportunities that develop community.
Chazen Museum of Arts Student Ambassadors
Chazen Museum of Arts Student Ambassadors connects students and community with the museum. As a group, we advise leadership within the Chazen on student and community-centered initiatives and announce activities hosted by the museum.
Fresh Hot Press
Fresh Hot Press fosters a community of printmaking artists and enthusiasts in Madison and promotes artistic interaction between faculty, students, and visiting artists at UW–Madison.
Photography Club
The Photography Club welcomes photographers of all skill levels and experience. Students have the opportunity to participate in a monthly meet-up to shoot together and explore new forms of photography.
The Studio
The Studio is a residential learning community in the heart of the UW–Madison campus. We house 64 students in a co-ed living environment. Events range from community dinners with faculty members to visual and performing arts showcases.
Wheelhouse Studio
Wheelhouse Studios is an open art studio located in the lower level of Memorial Union that has three versatile workspaces, flexible studio designs, drop-in art opportunities, and classes for enthusiasts and first-time artists alike.
Wisconsin Union Directorate Art Committee
The WUD Art Committee is dedicated to bringing novel and challenging exhibits to the Wisconsin Union and advancing visual arts in the Madison community. The committee selects, installs, and accessibly presents local, national, and international contemporary work in two gallery spaces.
Dance Department Student Association
The Dance Department Student Organization is a student-run organization that seeks to communally promote dance in higher education, enhance performance opportunities, and more.
Teatro Décimo Piso
Teatro Décimo Piso is a Hispanic theater group dedicated to keeping alive the heritage of performance in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese. The group welcomes students of all areas of study to participate.
Theatre and Drama Graduate Student Organization
The Theatre and Drama Graduate Student Organization is composed of UW–Madison graduate students interested in theatrical production and scholarship. The organization’s mission is to provide professional development and production opportunities for these graduate students.
Health
Kinesiology Club
We are a student organization committed to community service through engaging in opportunities to promote physical activity throughout the campus and community. We are also committed to exploring career opportunities within the field of kinesiology.
Association of Athletic Training Students
The AATS promotes scholarship among its members, provides avenues of information and education for the field of athletic training, and emphasizes the importance of outreach to the surrounding community.
Athletic Training Students for Brain Safety
In an effort to better educate the UW–Madison campus and surrounding communities about concussions, students with the Department of Kinesiology’s Athletic Training program formed the Athletic Training Students for Brain Safety (ATSBS) organization.
Student Occupational Therapy Association
The Student Occupational Therapy Association promotes knowledge of occupational therapy among students and the community, stimulates professional growth, and maintains communication with other professional programs and associations.
Diverse OT
This group strives to create pathways for marginalized students into the program and foster a strong community of OT students who are knowledgeable about the experiences of underrepresented peoples and equipped to address health disparities.
Pre-Occupational Therapy Student Organization
The Pre-Occupational Therapy Student Organization is a great way to learn about a career in occupational therapy, prepare for OT school, build one's resume, and have fun!
Sports Medicine Interest Group
The Sports Medicine Interest Group at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health provides medical students opportunities to gain experience and exposure to the field of sports medicine.
Education
Educational Psychology Student Association
The mission of the School Psychology Student Association is to create a welcoming environment and community for all graduate students in the UW–Madison School Psychology Program. The group builds connections through social events and activities.
Curriculum and Instruction International Student Association
The mission of the association is to promote the academic and social well-being of members, which includes sharing information on courses and facilitating collaborative research and publication for members with similar interests.
Game Design and Development
Work with a small group of peers to design and develop interactive media. Prior programming knowledge is not required, designing a game requires people with various skills such as in art and music, and these skills are just as valuable to a team.
Men In Education
Men in Education is a student organization bringing together men across the various teacher education programs for friendship and professional development through educational activities, round table discussions, volunteering, and hosting distinguished male educators and alumni as guest speakers.
