UW-Madison alumnus Duane Knudson, now a professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance at Texas State University, has been elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology (NAK). He will be inducted at the academy’s annual meeting in Bellevue, WA on September 14th, 2019.

UW–Madison researchers, including several with ties to the School of Education's Department of Kinesiology, recently published a study on the effectiveness of activity trackers, including Fitbits, with JMIR Publications' mHealth and uHealth. Authors include Diana Dorn and Jessica Gorzelitz, who both are both graduate students with the School of Education's Department of Kinesiology, while Lisa Cadmus-Bertram, Kelli Koltyn and David Bell are faculty members with the department.

It’s not even 7 a.m. and 30 women, several of whom are 70-and-older, are already working up a good sweat inside Gym 2 of the UW-Madison Natatorium. Wearing a headset and wireless microphone, class instructor Bonnie Loughran demonstrates and talks the women through their workout while the Eagles’ “Take it to the Limit (One More Time)” pipes through some speakers.
